Attract & Retain Talent

Attract & Retain Talent

In the era of millennials and upcoming Gen Z, businesses are striving to attract and retain the best of the best.

Millennials are the generation that care most about helping society whether that’s preventing diseases, helping to abolish hunger, or campaigning to save our environment by reducing plastic etc.

Millennials are looking for leaders, not managers. They want people to guide them and listen to their ideas and not micromanage them which is why it is important to design offices that allow for this type of communication. Millennials don’t want to be given meaningless work, they want to do work that matters. A workplace that fosters communication, feedback, and flexibility will certainly attract the best talent.

One way to do this is to create a workplace with a strategy of green ergonomics.

“Our built environment is currently the world’s single largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, and also consumes around a third of our water, and generates 40 per cent of our waste. From individual buildings to entire communities, Green Star is transforming the way our built environment is designed, constructed and operated. Launched by the Green Building Council of Australia in 2003, Green Star is Australia’s only national and voluntary rating system for buildings and communities. Green Star is helping to improve environmental efficiencies in our buildings, while boosting productivity, creating jobs and improving the health and well-being of our communities.” – GBCA

A business that adheres to the *Green star rating is sure to attract and retain talent because it is obvious that not only do you care about the people in the business, but you care about their future.

After all you wouldn’t have a business if it wasn’t for the people.

*What is Green Star?

Green Star is an internationally recognised rating system that delivers independent verification of sustainable outcomes throughout the life cycle of the built environment. Green star’s mission is to ‘create sustainable places for everyone’.

Green Star Ergonomics Credit

The aim of the ergonomics credit is to recognise the provision of equipment and spaces that provide good user comfort and avoid stress or injury. Work environments that meet minimum requirements are eligible to receive 1 Green Start point.

Requirements

Section 15.0 in the Green Star schedule – ‘Ergonomics Strategy’ describes that 1 point is available where the work settings in the nominated area address the ergonomic needs of the user, and information is provided to support continuous use. The point is awarded where the design team can demonstrate that the work settings in the nominated area address the ergonomic needs of the specific work setting user in accordance with 15.1.1, and information is provided in accordance with 15.1.2 to support continued ergonomic use. A Certified Professional Ergonomist must be involved in the evaluation.

If you need support with trying to attain the ergonomics credit for green star, head over to ‘Our Services’ page for more details. We’d love to help.
